As you may know, HIPAA is the first major Federal effort to establish national standards for the protection of individually identifiable health information, or when subject to the Privacy Rule, protected health information (PHI). HIPAA requires covered entities to provide privacy training to workforce members who are part of the covered entity.
The County of Orange has provided HIPAA training to more than 5,000 workforce members using the attached presentation combined with job-specific information based on the workforce members' duties. The training will be updated and provided on an annual basis to all workforce members, or more often if appropriate.
This information is available to give the reader an understanding of the training provided to County workforce members, and it is not to be construed as legal advice
