The Centralized Assessment Team (CAT) is a program of Orange County Health Care Agency – Behavioral Health Services and is funded through the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA).
The Team consists of:
Licensed Clinical Social Workers
Marriage & Family Therapists
Behavioral Health Specialists
Bilingual/Bi-cultural Staff (Spanish, Vietnamese languages available)
Our Mission
The Centralized Assessment Team (CAT) program mission is:
To provide emergency psychiatric evaluation services to the community
To ensure timely follow-up and referral services on all evaluations
To improve access to services through linkage and/or referral to community services
Who We Serve
Any adult who has a psychiatric emergency
Any adult who is at psychiatric risk
Any adult needing psychiatric hospitalization
Where We Serve
The CAT responds to psychiatric emergency call throughout Orange County
We serve all Orange County cities and unincorporated areas
The Team can respond to private residences, police stations, health clinics, private doctors’, therapists’ offices, in the field
We are unable to respond to inpatient floors of hospitals and skilled nursing facilities
This mental health response team will be available to both law enforcement and hospital emergency rooms for intervention with the seriously mentally ill
What We Do
Provide crisis intervention for hospital diversions
Provide evaluation for involuntary hospitalization (5150)
Assist police, fire, and social service agencies in response to psychiatric emergencies
Assist hospital emergency departments (ED) with assessment and consultation for patients in ED in need of, or waiting for, inpatient services
Provide information and referral for family members to community support services
