October 23, 2014  Permits Needed for Over-Road Displays in Unincorporated AreasProperty owners in the unincorporated areas of Orange County planning to stretch holiday displays over public roadways must coordinate with OC Public Works to assure the displays are safe and properly permitted.
October 22, 2014  Public Update on Ebola PreparednessEmergency planning is well underway in Orange County in response to the 2014 Ebola outbreak in the West African countries of Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone. The risk of contracting Ebola in the United States and in Orange County is very low; there are currently no cases of Ebola in California and no suspect cases. County officials are reviewing communicable disease response plans and conducting drills to exercise those plans.
October 22, 2014  Board Approves Renewable Energy Plant at Irvine Area LandfillA proposed state-of-the-art renewable energy plant to convert landfill gas to electricity has been approved by the Orange County Board of Supervisors. The Board, in a unanimous vote at its regular meeting on Oct. 21, gave the go-ahead for OC Waste & Recycling, the department that manages the County's three landfills, to revise and update a previous agreement with a private contractor to build a gas-to-energy facility at the County's Frank R. Bowerman Landfill.

Come see Peters Canyon Regional Park in a completely different setting - in the dark! Park rangers will lead a starlit hike showcasing the natural wonders that can only be seen at night. The free family event will feature many fun activities, including:

  • A live animal presentation with crawly critters
  • Hot cocoa and creepy treats

  • A hike through the wilderness area

This is an outdoor event. Please dress warmly, wear good walking shoes and bring a flashlight. Sorry, no dogs allowed on the hike.
