July 21, 2016  OC Officials Celebrate Expanded Authority for Use of Mental Health FundsThe State Department of Health Care Services has issued a formal ruling that counties can use Mental Health Services Act funding to provide crisis stabilization services to clients on a voluntary or involuntary basis. The move resulted from a bipartisan legislative push by Senator John Moorlach (R-Costa Mesa), supported by the Orange County Board of Supervisors.

July 7, 2016  New Board Will Oversee County’s CalOptima Health SystemA new Board of Directors will meet next month to oversee CalOptima, Orange County's comprehensive health system for low-income residents, after being selected by the Orange County Board of Supervisors. CalOptima contracts with the State of California to administer the $3.3 billion health plan for nearly 800,000 people in Orange County, or nearly one in four of Orange County’s 3.1 million residents.
