Adolescent Family Life Program (AFLP)
Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health (MCAH)

The Adolescent Family Life Program (AFLP) is a program for pregnant and parenting teens. In Orange County it is also known as “UPPBEAT.”

AFLP case managers provide guidance and resources to teenagers who are pregnant or parenting.  Case managers work to help teens who are enrolled in the program…

  • experience healthy pregnancies

  • give birth to healthy babies

  • acquire good parenting skills

  • complete their education and

  • avoid repeat unplanned pregnancies


Services

AFLP staff help link teens to services and programs available in the community including:

  • Health services for themselves and their children

  • Schooling

  • Vocational classes

  • Child care

  • Transportation

  • Financial aid

  • Legal services

  • Childbirth classes

  • Parenting classes

  • Counseling

Case managers can meet with the teen at home, school, or wherever she or he is comfortable.


Who is eligible?

  • Pregnant and/or parenting young women under age 19

  • Expectant and parenting young men under 21 years of age

  • All pregnant and/or parenting teens receiving welfare assistance are automatically enrolled in Cal-Learn
