Prenatal Care Guidance (PCG)
Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health (MCAH)
Prenatal Care Guidance (PCG) is a State funded
program that is operated through the Maternal, Child and
Adolescent Health (MCAH) Program at the County level.
The purpose of PCG is to provide outreach to
low-income pregnant women to inform, motivate, and assist them in
obtaining early, consistent, and appropriate prenatal care. This
can decrease the incidence of low birth weight infants and improve
pregnancy outcomes. A list of obstetrical care providers within
the community is maintained for clients needing help with
obtaining a care provider.
Outreach workers assist the clients in obtaining
Medi-Cal or other sources of funding for their pregnancy. Medi-Cal
income eligible pregnant women will qualify for Special Services
Medi-Cal or Emergency Only Medi-Cal for their pregnancy. We can
assist clients in getting their Presumptive Eligibility status and
then continuing on and receiving their Medi-Cal.
A pregnant woman can access the PCG program by:
-
Applying for Medi-Cal benefits for her
pregnancy
-

our Pregnancy Testing Clinics, 1-800-914-4887
