Hoping for Hope

I have endless dreams of open space,
But I’m feeling trapped inside this place.
There’s so many things I long to do,
 wonder if I’ll make it through
Tomorrow, let alone the years.
I hope to fly beyond my fears.

Will I ever share what’s in this heart
Before my dreams are torn apart?
There’s so much beauty locked deep inside
But life makes me want to run and hide.
I breathe in deep so I’ll stay sane,
I’m much too young to have seen such pain.

 Endless thirst must be quenched in a sip,
For love has my heart within its grip.
I struggle and pray for peace of mind,
I wait for a time of a different kind,
While my spirits and my heart sink low,
I’d run if I knew which way to go.

It’s hard to wait for someday,
But it’s all that I’ve got left.
I’ll build strength and character
While life puts me through its test.
I will laugh and love and live
And do my very best,
And I will look to God
To take care of all the rest.
