Adolescent Family Life Program (AFLP) and Cal-Learn Program
The Adolescent Family Life Program (AFLP) and Cal-Learn are for pregnant and parenting teens. AFLP is a voluntary program while Cal-Learn is mandatory for teens who participate in the CalWORKs Program. AFLP and Cal-Learn case managers provide guidance and resources to teenagers who are pregnant or parenting. Case managers work to help teens who are enrolled in the program:
experience healthy pregnancies, thus give birth to healthy babies
acquire good parenting skills
complete their education and
avoid repeat unplanned pregnancies
AFLP and Cal-Learn staff is comprised of social workers and Public Health Nurses who help link teens to services and programs available in the community including:
Health services for themselves and their children
AFLP and Cal-Learn staff can meet with the teen at home, school, or wherever she or he is comfortable.
Orange County residents who are:
Pregnant and/or parenting young women under 19 years of age
Expectant and parenting young men under 19 years of age
