Adolescent Family Life Program (AFLP) and Cal-Learn Program

The Adolescent Family Life Program (AFLP) and Cal-Learn are for pregnant and parenting teens. AFLP is a voluntary program while Cal-Learn is mandatory for teens who participate in the CalWORKs Program. AFLP and Cal-Learn case managers provide guidance and resources to teenagers who are pregnant or parenting. Case managers work to help teens who are enrolled in the program.

  • avoid repeat unplanned pregnancies
 

Services

AFLP and Cal-Learn staff is comprised of social workers and Public Health Nurses who help link teens to services and programs available in the community including:

  • Health services for themselves and their children
  • Schooling
  • Vocational classes
  • Child care
  • Transportation
  • Financial aid
  • Legal services
  • Childbirth classes
  • Parenting classes
  • Counseling

AFLP and Cal-Learn staff can meet with the teen at home, school, or wherever she or he is comfortable.

 

Eligibility

Orange County residents who are:

  • Pregnant and/or parenting young women under age 19 years of age
  • Expectant and parenting young men under 19 years of age
