Pinworm infection, or enterobiasis, is caused by small, thin, white roundworms (nematodes) that sometimes live in the colon and rectum of humans. Pinworms are the most common worm infection in the United States and affects all ages and socioeconomic levels, especially school-aged and preschool-aged children, institutionalized persons and household members and caretakers of persons with pinworm infection.
Pinworm infections are NOT reportable in Orange County.
