About the Data

The source of data for this dashboard is the California Comprehensive Death File. Generally, data for the most recent six months are not fully complete due to data lag and are expected to change. Orange County population data used to calculate per 100K rates are from the Claritas system. All per 100K rates are calculated using the most recent Orange County population figures available as of 7/30/2021. Therefore, denominator does not change according to the time period. This dashboard is refreshed monthly (on or before the 5th of each month) with new data, and past data are updated when necessary.
