This year's training provides an overview of a culturally responsive approach to incorporate into service attitudes and interactions with clients to reduce the effects of stereotyping. The concepts of culture, race, ethnicity and diversity as well as stigma and self-stigma are discussed. The training also demonstrates the influence of unconscious thought on our judgment as it relates to stereotyping and racism. Strategies are also provided to recognize diversity and embrace uniqueness of other cultures beyond the mainstream American culture.
