DESCRIPTION Fungal and yeast isolates are identified based on combination of morphologic and biochemical tests. If dimorphic fungi, sequencing is performed (Histoplasma capsulatum and Blastomyces dermatitidis are available). Cultures are held for one month.
SPECIMEN REQUIREMENTS

SPECIMEN: Abscess, biopsy, blood, CSF, ear, mucocutaneous membranes, hair, nails, respiratory, skin, and urine.
